Get Started

External Services

External (API) Services are hosted on an external API

Set up your External Service

External (API) Services

  • External Services are hosted on an external API.
  • The field, 'service_url' should point to the base url of your API.
  • In the url field, be sure to include http:// or https:// and to point our system to the full path of your API. We don’t automatically add anything to the url, we make a request to the exact url you have supplied.
  • We will pass the parameter “q” as our query string to your server.

What Your Server Should Return

Your server should return JSON to our server. Here's what the structure should look like, every field listed is required, see below for a list of optional fields.

{
  "results": [
  ]
}

Inside the results list you'll need to include a dictionary/hash object for each result. Here's what it should look like:

{
  "subtitle": "",
  "uid": 0,
  "title": "",
  "url": "",
  "image": {
    "url": "",
    "width": "512",
    "height": "512",
    "size": ""
  },
  "detail": {

  },
  "source": "slashflights",
  "display_type": "default",
  "output": ""
}

Examples

To make life easier we have created an example project for you, which you can deploy to heroku with just one click!
